He enlisted in the Canadian Army in Windsor, Ontario on January 05th, 1917.
Around this time he changed his name from Bartlett to Murphy (Reasons unknown).
On March 21st, 1917, George married Alberta Rice in Toronto, Ontario. Marriage Particulars #001867.
1921 Ontario Census of Kitchener, Ontario has George, Alberta & their 1 year old son Thomas living with her parents, Joseph & Catherine Rice at 201 Queen St; South.
Joseph & Alberta were living back in Detroit, Michigan in 1942 till at least 1960.
After the death of his son Thomas at 41 years, George entered Westminsters Veteran Hospital in London, Ontario.
He died there in his 73rd year of Carcinoma of the Pancreas and is buried at St. Peter's Cemetery in London, Ontario.
