Juanita Ables Free,80, of Vardaman passed from this life on Wednesday, January 20, 2021, at Sunshine Health Care in Pontotoc. Born on February 28, 1940, in Tishomingo County, Juanita was one of six children born to the late Stanley and Florene Ables.

She married the love of her life, Doyle Free, on January 31, 1958. The couple spent an expansive sixty- two years eleven months and twenty days in marriage. The ample number of days in their union brought forth many children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren and many priceless memories. Juanita, a homemaker, devoted her time and energy into looking after the wellbeing of her family. When she wasn’t navigating her way around the kitchen cooking, she could be found tending to her vegetable garden ensuring that a bountiful harvest to can was on the horizon. Juanita also posed the sewing skills it took to mend clothing and produce outfits. As a member of Taylor Church of God of Prophecy, Juanita hid the words of the Lord in her heart and cherished the gift of salvation He offered.

She leaves behind an expansive family to continue walking down the path of life in her absence: husband Doyle Free of Vardaman; four sons: Stacy (Connie) Free of Vardaman, Mark (Shelby) Free of Vardaman, Matt (Cassie) Free of Vardaman, and Wayne (Lisa) Free of Union; one daughter Donna Free of Pontotoc; fifteen grandchildren: Booklyn Bias, Shae Bishop, Dawson Dove, John Free, Junior Free, Page Free, Emily Free, Chance Free, Abby Hopson, Colby Free, Ava Free, Chloe Free, Nikki Free, Brandi Free, Kimberly Haynes; four great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; two brothers: Stanley Ables Jr. of Dennis, and Jerry Ables of Dennis; two sisters: Alma Louis of Dennis and Cathy Hunter of Dennis.

She was preceded in death by her parents Stanley and Florene Ables; one daughter Carol Smitherman; one grandchild Jason Free, and one brother Paul Ables.

The family will receive friends on Friday, January 22, 2021, from 4:00 PM- 7:00 PM at Taylor Church of God of Prophecy in Vardaman. The funeral service celebrating Juanita’s life will be held on Saturday, January 23, 2021, at 11:00 AM in the Sanctuary of Taylor Church of God of Prophecy with Dr. Timothy Cook officiating. Members of the Vardaman Fire Department will carry her to rest in Taylor Church of God of Prophecy Cemetery.
