Jack W. Skinner, 94, of West Deer Township, formerly of Plum, died Monday, Jan. 18, 2021 at the home of his daughter, where he has lived for the past three years.

He was born Aug. 3, 1926 in Arnold to the late Floyd L. and Vivian G. (Kelsey) Skinner.

Jack grew up and graduated from Plum High School in 1944, where he lived most of his life. After graduation, Jack served his country in the Army Air Force achieving the rank of sergeant. He was stationed in Shemya and the Aleutian Islands, serving as a Radar Operator. After returning from the war, he built homes with his father running Skinner & Skinner Home Builders Supplies. He then went to work at ALCOA Research, New Kensington, working as an electronic technician for five years in the analytical chemistry division. He then went to work for Allegheny Ludlum Steel, working as an electronic engineer and supervisor of the Design & Construction in the elecro-mechanisms division of the electrical engineering department. While working at Allegheny Ludlum, he attended Carnegie Institute of Technology, now Carnegie Mellon University, graduating with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering in 1961. Jack was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, New Kensington, holding offices as an Elder, trustee and the church treasurer for 36 years, also a member of the A-K Valley Computer Club. He enjoyed computers, electronics, church & religious endeavors, carpentry and home remodeling, music and yard work.

He was the loving father of Sandra D. Grunwell and Linda J. (William) Erskine with whom he has lived the past three years; cherished grandfather of Katie L. (Doug Snyder) Erskine; brother Richard A. (Peggy) Skinner and his sister Eileen Cardinal.

Besides his parents he was the beloved husband of Dolores J. (Beighley) Skinner who died on Nov. 30, 1997.
