Betty Lee Howell, age 80 of Westmoreland, passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021. Funeral Service will be Saturday, January 23, 2021 in the chapel of Family Heritage Funeral Home. Visitation will be Saturday, January 23rd from 11:00 a.m. until time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow the service at Siloam Cemetery, with family and friends serving as pallbearers. The family respectfully asks that everyone who attends the visitation or funeral service wear a mask, if you do not have a mask, they are available at the funeral home.
Mrs. Howell was born March 16, 1940 in Macon County to the late Blonville Wallace McDole and Ida lee Curtis McDole. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by twin sons, Don Joseph Howell and John McDole Howell; and sisters, Ruby Mae Genung, Pauline Morrison, and Earline Akins. She is survived by husband of 63 years, Johnny H. Howell of Westmoreland; daughters, Dawn Howell of Lafayette and Lynn Stewart (William, Jr.) of Westmoreland; 5 grandchildren, Mandy Scruggs (fiancé’, Steve Thompson), B. J. Scruggs (Lauren Rich), John Thomas Kemper (Lindsey Armstrong), Kayler Kemper (Brookelyn), and Andrean Stewart (Chriss Guyiette); and 7 great grandchildren, Annabelle Kemper, Madison Scruggs, Landon Scruggs, Memphis Scruggs, Emery Guyiette, Landry Guyiette, and Willa Guyiette. Mrs. Howell was an Office Nurse for many years, working for several doctors, including Dr. Painter, Dr. Chitwood, Dr. Clark all in Lafayette. She and her husband were very involved in the Jaycee’s and the Jaycett’s. They were very supportive of charity work. Mrs. Howell went to homes of people who needed help during times of sickness or after injuries until they were able to care for themselves. She enjoyed going to gospel singings.
