Dick was born Jan. 11, 1930 in Kaukauna, Wisconsin, a son of Carl Albert and Elsie Paschen Albert. He married Catherine Marie Behm on March 25, 1951 in Kiel, Wisconsin.
Dick is survived by wife, Catherine M. Albert; son, Eric (Julie) Albert; daughter, Kristin (David) Burke; sister, Esther Treml; five grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and three sisters.
He taught at University High School from 1963-1979 and was an associate professor of English at Illinois State University from 1979-1993 when he retired.
He was a veteran of the Korean conflict, serving from 1953-1955.
Dick was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church since 1964, where he served on various boards including the elders, Christian day school and personnel review board.
Dick was an avid golfer who enjoyed playing at the various Bloomington-Normal golf courses as well as courses in Wisconsin and Florida.
A major life interest in jazz led him to author numerous articles and books on the subject. He enjoyed classical music, especially the Illinois Symphony Orchestra concerts.
