Mr. J.W. Adkison, age 83, passed away Sunday, January 17, 2021 in Niceville, Florida. He was born April 30, 1937 in Walton County, Florida to John William Adkison and Bessie Adkison.
Mr. Adkison was a lifelong resident of Walton County, Florida. He was Apostolic by faith and a member of Eucheeanna Apostolic Church. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and great-great-grandfather. He owned and operated Thriftway Supermarket for forty-one years. He was a member of the DeFuniak Springs Kiwanis Club with forty-one years of perfect attendance. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce, the Chautauqua Centennial, and the Council of 36. He loved camping with his grandchildren and attending camp meetings with his church.
Mr. Adkison is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Louise Elizabeth Adkison; his father and mother; two brothers, Bill Adkison and Buddy Adkison; his sister Helen Garrett; and his grandson, Jonathan Ryan Long.
A time of visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Eucheeanna Apostolic Church; 6068 County Highway 280 East, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32435.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Eucheeanna Apostolic Church.
Burial will follow in Euchee Valley Cemetery.
