CHAPMAN, BARNEY D. passed away April 30, 2007 in Riverside, CA. at the age of 84 years. Born in Marion, North Carolina he has lived in Riverside for 40 years. Mr. Chapman joined the U.S. Marines when he was seventeen and then enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1943 serving his country during WWII, Korean Conflict and the Viet Nam War. He was honorably discharged in May of 1963. He then began working for the Division of Highways for the State of California as a civil engineer. The State changed the name to Cal Trans and he worked out of San Bernardino retiring after 21 years as a meteorologist. Barney was a member of Faith Lutheran Church, The American Legion of Fairmont Park and Riverside Lawn Bowling at Fairmont Park. Mr. Chapman met Ursula (Sue) Hillebrand while stationed in Germany and they married May 30, 1952. He is survived by his loving wife, Ursula (Sue), of 55 years. Dear uncle of many nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, May 9, 2007 at 11 A.M. in Faith Lutheran Church, 4785 Jackson St. Graveside committal ceremonies will be Thursday, May 10, 2007, 11 A.M. in Riverside National Cemetery at Staging Area No. 5 The family requests donations be made to the American Diabetes Foundation, 225 Broadway, Suite 1530, San Diego, CA., 92101 or Alzheimer's Association, 104 E.
