Funeral services for Jessie A. Stevens were held Friday, August 16, at 3 p.m. at the Nations - Poplar Creek Baptist Church. Officiating were Mr. Dan Beardain and Rev. W. H. Henson. Burial was in the church cemetery, with Oliver Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Stevens, a Montgomery County native, died August 15 at the Kilmichael Hospital, after an extended illness. He was 82 years old. He was a member of the Bethel Methodist Church.
Survivors include six children: Fred and Rupert Stevens of French Camp; Ronald Stevens, Mrs. Estelle Austin, and Mrs. Olive Jefcoat, all of Kilmichael; and Mrs. May Taylor, Greenville.
Three sisters, Mrs. R. C. Mayo, Ackerman; Mrs. Roger Hill, Louisville; Miss Thelma Stevens, Lenora, New Jersey; 24 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers were V. W. Prewitt, Johnson Stevens, John Perkins, Johnny Taylor, Bernard Stevens, and Bubby Lott.
