Mary Jane Dunkan was born on July 2, 1815, in Kentucky. Mary Jane married Joseph Brunk Jr on December 1, 1836. She had four sons: Zachariah Taylor Brunk (1846-1918), Albert Brunk (1853-1870), Thomas L. Brunk (1855-1906) and Lindroff F. Brunk (1864-1934) and four daughters: Nancy Lavina Brunk (1817-1894), Amanda A. Brunk (1844-), Sarah J. Brunk (1849-1850) and Amelia J. Brunk (1859-) with Joseph Brunk Jr between 1843 and 1864. She died on November 12, 1887, in Owensville, Ohio, at the age of 72.
