Herman Perry, age 86 of Breckenridge, passed away Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his residence.

Graveside services with Military Honors and Masonic Rites will be held at 10 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2017 in the Breckenridge Cemetery. A memorial service will follow at 11 am at Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Don Bearden and Rev. Charles West officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 6:30 pm, Tuesday, January 3rd at Morehart Mortuary.

Herman Harold Perry was born January 25, 1930 in Mills County, Texas to his parents, Townsend Chester Perry and Maude Montgomery Perry.

He graduated from Early High School and served in the United States Navy following graduation. Mr. Perry was enlisted in the Navy as an EM2 electrician from 1948 until he was honorably discharged in 1952.

He married Evelyn Davis in Grand Prairie, Texas on March 6, 1953.

Herman worked for Sears & Roebuck as a service repair man for 45 years until he retired in 1994.

After retirement, Herman took a job working for the Stephens County Tax Appraisal office where he worked for nine years.

Mr. Perry was a faithful member of Bethany Baptist Church since 1968 and had also served as a deacon.

Herman was also a member of the Breckenridge Masonic Lodge #492 where he served as a past master and was awarded The Golden Trowel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Townsend and Maude Perry; one brother, Donald Ray Perry.

Mr. Perry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Evelyn Perry of Breckenridge; two sons, Donald H. Perry & wife Dr. Cynthia Perry and Dwayne Perry, all of Breckenridge; one brother, John C. Perry of Garland; one sister, Brenda Cole of Garland; three grandchildren, Douglas Jones & wife Debbie of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, Samuel Stephen Jones of Abilene, Amanda Perry Halari & husband Michael of Breckenridge; five great grandchildren, Denae Jones, Abigail Jones, Kian Jones, Evelyn Halari, Shane Halari and one more great grandchild that will be here in July; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, especially one very close cousin, Larry B. Perry.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Baptist Church Building Fund, Meals on Wheels or the charity of the donor’s choice and may be left at Morehart Mortuary.
