Leo B. Haidet

Leo B. Haidet, age 93, passed away on December 22, 2020. He was a member of St. Mark's Catholic Church in Lancaster, Ohio and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus chapter 15447.

Leo was born in Alliance, Ohio, the son of Victor and Emma Gulling Haidet. He married Ruby Walton in 1951 in Columbus, Ohio. Although they lived most recently in the Lancaster area more than 31 years, they also lived in Upland, California for 14 years and in Muncie, Indiana, Toledo, Ohio and Dallas, Pennsylvania. His wife, Ruby, died in 2009. They had been married for 58 years.

Leo graduated from The Ohio State University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and worked for Owens Illinois and Libbey Glass for 34 years, including as plant manager at three different factories - Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania, Toledo, Ohio, and City of Industry, California. He retired from Libbey Glass in 1987.

He was the best dad of four daughters -Teresa Smith of Chandler, Arizona, Deb (Chris) Jackson of Bowling Green, Ohio, Laura (Jerry) Baldonado of Canby, Oregon, and Jean (Dave) Canup of Lancaster, Ohio; the loving grandpa of seven - Chris Haidet of Scottsdale, Arizona, Heather (Jeff) Cowell of Yorba Linda, California, Keith (Jenny) Jackson of Denver, Colorado, Jason (Irina) Baldonado of Happy Valley, Oregon, Karen (Mark) Homonai of Fort Mill, South Carolina, Nolan (Rachel) Canup of Lancaster, Ohio, and Paula (Seth) Hines of Lancaster, Ohio; and the great grandpa of 13. He was the best dad and grandpa and loved spoiling everyone.

Leo was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Monter, Betty Specht, and Mary Elder, and his brothers Vincent, Donald and Richard.

Burial will be at a later time. Memorial contributions can be made at Capital City Hospice, 2800 Corporate Exchange Drive, Suite 170, Columbus, Ohio 43231 and/or at St. Mark Food pantry at 324 Gay Street, Lancaster, Ohio.
