Barbara J. Matthews 69, of Noblesville died Sunday, Sept. 5, 2004, at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.
Mr.s. Matthews worked in the hotel hospitality business until she retired, at one point serving as the food and beverage manager for catering at Ramada Inn and Drake Hotels in Chicago and Oakbrook, Ill. Before the hotel business, she owned a beauty salon in Chicago. She was born Aug. 16, 1935 in Chicago, the daughter of Fredrick and Marguerite (Morris) Myers. She was a graduate of Taft High School in Chicago. Her first marriage was to James W. Richmond. Her second was to Robert Matthews. She married Jessie Creason just prior to his death. Mrs. Matthews was a member of the Women of the Moose Lodge 17 in Indianapolis. She was a cat enthusiast and delighted in calling herself The Cat lady in the old farmhouse at 12th and Evans. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Kimberly and Andy Anderson and Kelli Matthews both of Indianapolis: one son James F. Richmond of Noblesville: seven grandchildren and their spouses Randy and Dana wolf, Kerry and Alan Vorhies, Anna Wolfe, Cynthia Anspach, Nicole Anspach, Christopher Matthews and Kylee Anderson; and seven great-grandchildren.
