Oscar and Sibling were orphaned at very young

The mother Maggie she knows that she is dying. She was trying to find homes for her children, she did not want them separated.

Oscar and Maurice entered into Lutheran Youth Home for boys in Mar 15. 1898
His sisters want to Grantsville MD.

In 1910 Oscar was aged out of orphanage,
his brother Morris still remains there.
Oscar stayed in the area and found work as painter and carpenter. He wanted to be close to his brother.

Oscar met Josephine Katherine Burkert.
Oscar and Katherine were married on May 28, 1912.

Less than a year later Oscar lost the love of his life Katherine died of pneumonia March 20, 1913, she was with child, Katherine and baby are buried in the Even city cemetery Pa.

Devastated by his loss of his wife and child.

Oscar found work as a merchant Marine and travel throughout the world.
By 1917 he was working on a ship called (GENA) which was the first ship to be sunk by German seaplane bomber.

This was reported in the Pittsburgh Press on May 11, 1917

He arrived in New Orleans on 29 of June 1918 working on the ship Called "USS Keresaspa.”

Then we found Oscar working on a ship called(USS WESTERN PRIDE) in 1919

By April 20, 1920 Oscar was reported lost at sea, he was board Swartskog; the ship hit rock then went down near Port Elizabeth South Africa.
Oscar own words, he was washed over the side of the ship by wave water. That wave come over top of the ship, after that he was washed ashore on the beach he found refuge in little village called deafen.


Oscar found his second love and married.
Bessie May Schuette on November 3, 1924,

Oscar and Bessie May Findley, had five children.

He was a contractor and a business man He started O. C. Construction Company, with his own two hands.
Later on in life,they moved to West Sunbury PA area.

O.C. Findley mine posts company.

As an author, I only wish it could have known my grandparents, but I did get to know them through researching them. My mother telling us stories about her parents. Me and my siblings were lucky,We got to enjoy the stories that my mother would tell us.
