Bobby Dean Burch, 62, of Cleveland, Ga., and formerly of Hayesville, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Gainesville,

A native of Clay County, he was a U.S. Army veteran serving during the Vietnam War.

He was a retired welder. He was an outdoor enthusiast who loved to paint and make music. He loved Native American art and culture and was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

He was the son of the late Bob Franklin Burch.

Surviving are his mother and stepfather Violet Rose Millsaps Burch Abernathy and Arnold Abernathy of Hayesville; his fiance, Barbara Dunson of Cleveland, Ga.; three brothers, Jerry Burch of Greenwood, S.C., Rodney Burch of Prosperity, S.C., and Teddy Burch of Marble; one sister, Ginger Woodall of Andrews; seven nephews, two nieces; several great nieces and nephews.

The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Oct. 5, at Townson Rose, Frank Rose Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville.

Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, at Townson Rose, Frank Rose Sr. Memorial Chapel in Hayesville. Elder Jennings Bristol officiated. Burial was in Hayesville United Methodist Church Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by local veterans organizations: Murphy VFW Post 10222, Joe Miller Elkin American Legion Post 96, DAV Chapter 73 and Clay County VFW Post 6812. Pallbearers were Danny Burch, Daniel Burch, Chris Burch, Benji Burch, Jeffrey Burch and Jim Gibby.
