Mr. Joseph J. Camp was born Oct. 10th, 1826 near Clarksville, Clinton county, Ohio, and died at the home of his daughter Rebecca Kinghen in Princeville, Nov. 25th, 1914 aged eighty eight years, one month and fifteen days.

In 1852 he came to Illinois but remained only a short time. Upon returning to Ohio, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Sutters, January 25th, 1852. To this union were born twelve children, eight of whom are living. In 1858, he came with his family to Illinois and settled near Elmor in Peoria county on a farm where he spent the greater part of his life.

In 1862, August 6th, he enlisted in the Civil war at Brimfield going out to Co. G. He was honorably discharged after being in the service about one year. His wife died July 15th, 1899. Mr. Camp was spared to see his grand children and great grand children. Until his health failed, he was industrious and a hard-working man, a good husband and a kind father.
