In 1852 he came to Illinois but remained only a short time. Upon returning to Ohio, he was married to Miss Elizabeth Sutters, January 25th, 1852. To this union were born twelve children, eight of whom are living. In 1858, he came with his family to Illinois and settled near Elmor in Peoria county on a farm where he spent the greater part of his life.
In 1862, August 6th, he enlisted in the Civil war at Brimfield going out to Co. G. He was honorably discharged after being in the service about one year. His wife died July 15th, 1899. Mr. Camp was spared to see his grand children and great grand children. Until his health failed, he was industrious and a hard-working man, a good husband and a kind father.
The last few years he had been an invalid being cared for by his daughter who ever tried to do what she could to make her father comfortable in his declining years. Mr. Camp leaves behind a large number of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. The families thus bereaved, have the sympathy of the entire community.
Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church Friday afternoon, the Rev. Max B. Wiles conducting the services. Interment was in the Princeville cemetery.
