Mother Ada Burton Passes

Mrs. Ada E. Burton, age 107 years, 4404 Pratt Street, passed away Monday evening, May 10th, at her home.

Mrs. Burton was honored Sunday morning, May 9th, as the Bicentennial Mother of the Year during a special Mother's Day Service at the St. John A.M.E. Church.

Recently, Mrs. Burton attributed her longevity to hard work and will power.

A native of Ivory, Virginia, she grew up in several Iowa communities, including Des Moines. She moved to Omaha in 1911.

Mother Burden [sic] was a member of the Holy Name Catholic Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Beatrice G. McKinley and Mrs. Athlone R. (Tony) Bates; son, Mr. Osborn M. Burton, Omaha; 4 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Rosary will be held at 7 o'clock Thursday evening, May 13 at the Thomas Funeral Home Chapel.

Funeral services are tentatively arranged for 10 o'clock Friday morning, May 14th at the Holy Name Catholic Church with Father Norbert Delort, officiating.

Interment will be in the Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
