She was born in Clarksburg, on September 23, 1923, a daughter of the late Fred and Samantha Asher.
Mrs. Owens was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, George W. Owens in 2013; two brothers, Donald Asher and Vance DePass and two sisters, Geraldine Schweer and Kathleen Starkey.
Lil is survived by two sons, George D. Owens and Rev. Ron Owens and wife, Karen; six grandchildren, Kristen Payne (Gary), Jeff Owens (Jessie), DJ Owens (JD), Kim Hillard (Robert), Sheri Kennedy (Mark) and Ryan Roberts (Helen). She was blessed with many great-grandchildren and great-great- grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
Lil graduated from Roosevelt-Wilson High School. She worked at Maidenform and with her husband at Wholesale Tire in Clarksburg. She and her husband were "crafters" and were well known in the area for their woodwork and sewing crafts. Lil was a member of the First Baptist Church of Nutter Fort, WV.
There will be no visitation or formal service. A private graveside service will be held for her immediate family at Sunset Memorial Park Cemetery with Rev. Ron Owens presiding.
