Mrs. Sybil Brooks Garner, 79, of 230 Fernleaf Drive, Travelers Rest, SC died December 18, 2008 at her residence. She was born August 23, 1929 in Greenville, SC to the late W.H. Brooks and Alma Anderson Brooks. She graduated from Parker High School in 1946, was a homemaker and a member of Hilltop Baptist Church. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Donald J. Garner; a brother, Walter Brooks; and a grandson, David E. Ivester. Surviving are daughters, Donna Webb of Tampa, Florida, Sherry Ivester and husband Donny of Travelers Rest; sons, Wendell Garner of Greenville, Craig Garner of Clarksville, Tennessee, sisters, Bobbie Howard of San Suci, Greenville, Joyce Sprouce of Dacusville; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 4:00 p.m. Sunday at Graceland Cemetery. Rev. Fred Pittman will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Westville Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the residence of a daughter, Sherry Ivester, 230 Fernleaf Drive, Travelers Rest. Memorials may be given to Winyah Hospice, 800 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29607.
