Jan Larene Bredesen Allen passed away peacefully in her home on January 3, 2021. Jan was born May 4, 1953 to Arnold Bredesen and Betty Mason in Provo, Utah. She grew up in Springville, graduated from Springville High in 1971, and then attended Brigham Young University. She met Robert Allen at Allen’s Super Save, wrote to him throughout his LDS mission, and when he returned home, they were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on September 27, 1974.

Jan was known for many things – her energy and spunk, her compassionate caregiving, her faithfulness to the gospel of Jesus Christ, and her many talents as a planner, writer and decorator. She was also very organized, quick to jump in and serve, dependable, stubborn, and just a little bit quirky. She was one of a kind in a myriad of ways.

Jan’s favorite place to be was in her own home. She loved baking treats for her kids and the neighbors and anyone else who might open her freezer. She loved gardening, home decorating and crafting. She was also an avid reader and journal writer, and she enjoyed writing poetry. One of her favorite activities was gathering around the piano with her girls on Sunday afternoons to sing. Jan also loved going shopping, and shopping from home was even better!

A devoted servant of Jesus Christ, Jan served in many callings in the church, including primary and young women president. She developed relationships with those she served and those with whom she served that lasted her whole life. Jan had a deep love for the temple and attended as often as she could. She also enjoyed family history work and indexed thousands upon thousands of names.

Jan’s greatest accomplishment and joy was her seven children. She was always in the kitchen when her children came home from school and would take time to listen and ask about their days. She was a wonderful caregiver to everyone around her and was the first to reach out when she saw a need. She took wonderful care of her husband before his passing in 2002 and afterwards of her mom who passed a few years later.

Jan had many friends, but her closest and dearest friends were her sisters and her mom. We rejoice in knowing that she has been reunited with her parents, her grandma whom she loves so much, and her sweetheart and eternal companion, Rob, after 18 years of separation. She is also finally getting to meet her grandson, Landon, who passed away in 2006.

She is survived by her seven children, Jenny (Mark) Moody, Sara (Weston) Blaney, Rob (Heather) Allen, Rachel (Andrew) Loeffler, Christian Allen, Brett (Brittany) Allen, and Bradyn (Caroline) Allen, and 20 grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters, Kathy (Morris) Nelson, Pat (Gary) Fleming, and Katie (Neil) Jeppson, her father-in-law Jack Allen, and her in-laws Lewis Tippets, John (Tricia) Allen, Cindy (Bob) Nelson, and Michelle (Ryan) Davis.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 7, 2021 at the Rose Creek Crossing Ward Chapel located at 3113 W 13400 S in Riverton. A viewing will be held from 9:30 – 10:45 am, directly followed by the funeral at 11 am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, in-person attendance will be by invitation only.
