He was united in marriage to Lena Abbott Burks on January 3, 1962. They were married for 58 years.
He was proceeded in death by his parents, James and Alice Southwood Burks; brothers, Robert and Jimmy Burks; sisters, Ruth Hicks, Vena Peercy, Veola Pennington, and Mary Vivian Humble Dodson.
He is survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and family to mourn his passing.
Jack was a veteran, carpenter, farmer and loved to play his guitar and sing.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 7, 2021 from 11 am until 12 pm in the chapel of the funeral home. Funeral services will be held, Thursday, January 7, 2021 at 12 pm at the Hickey Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Bethesda Cemetery.
