Evelyn Dale, age 98, a resident of Wesley Place on Honeysuckle, passed away early Thursday morning, December 31, 2020, following an extended illness. Maryse was born March 31, 1922 in High Springs, FL to Howell P. & Myrtis Harris Dale. She grew up in Live Oak and Plant City, FL. In her adult years she lived in Lakeland, Tampa, and Plant City, FL and in Cicero, IL.

Maryse graduated from Plant City High School in 1940 and attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, graduating in 1944. She received a Master’s degree from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) in 1949. She was very active in Methodist Church youth and adult activities. She taught the Mary & Martha Sunday School Class and served as Church Historian at Plant City United Methodist Church and as Director or Religious Education at Seminole Heights UMC in Tampa. Professionally, she taught English at Andrew (GA) College, Hillsborough County (FL) Community College, Winter Haven (FL) High School, and retired from J. Sterling Morton East (IL) High School. Maryse is survived by her only sister, Sarah Prophet (Wallace) along with two nephews, Dale and Chuck Prophet. A private interment will be held in Plant City, Fl.
