Mary Sue was born in Nocona, Texas, on August 12, 1934, to Walter Scott Brooks and Margaret Ruth Howard Brooks and had one brother, Jackie Howard Brooks and one sister, Martha Lou Brooks Griffith-all preceding her in death. Her father (Sonny) was employed in the petroleum industry, thus her growing up years were spent in various cities of Texas and Oklahoma. She graduated from Nocona High School. After a couple of years at North Texas, she embarked on her career. Working with Texaco, she met her husband, their first date being on Halloween. They were engaged on Christmas and married on April 20, 1957. She resigned and then started secretarial work with petroleum companies and later, schools. During their 63 plus years of marriage, they lived in various cities, with 10 years being the longest time at any one of them.
In 2010, she was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and we moved to Plano, TX, the following year. After living at Auberge at Plano, memory care facility, for over two years, she was healed and transitioned, peacefully, to eternity with her husband at her side on December 28. 2020.
