Beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend Edward Stewart "Ned" Gibbs passed away on Sept. 13, 2006, as a result of injuries suffered in a tragic accident.

During their 37 years of marriage, Ned and his wife, Deborah, had 15 children and 16 grandchildren. He will be missed dearly by his wife and family, who love him so much and look forward to the time they are reunited as an eternal family.

Ned was born May 13, 1951, in Columbia, Mo., to Edward Nowell and Kitty Sue Gibbs. He was the second of four children and grew up on a farm, where he learned the value of hard work and the importance of family life. His family later moved to California, where Ned met and later married his eternal companion, Deborah Helen Cashin, on Jan. 20, 1970, and was baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Jan. 19, 1971. They were later sealed for eternity in the Los Angeles Temple on Feb. 18, 1972. Ned showed his love for the Lord through his many years of faithful service.

Ned served his country for eight years in the U.S. Navy. He taught his children great respect for our country and freedom. He attended Brigham Young University, graduating in three years with a degree in manufacturing engineering technology. Ned led his family to Texas, then later back to California, where they have resided since 1985. He lived with his family in Camarillo until 2000, when they moved to Oceanside and then to Newbury Park in 2002. Ned had worked for New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Chatsworth since 2002.

His life was dedicated to his wife, his children and his heavenly father. He freely expressed his love for his children. He loved to sing and regularly did so for his children. He would sit in the hallway at night, singing his children to sleep. He made great efforts to pray with his family every day.

He taught his children to value of work. He built his kids' bunk beds, still used today at home by his grandchildren. He never took shortcuts and always did it right the first time. He praised his wife always and taught his children that there was no greater honor than to love and respect their mother.

Ned was preceded in death by his mother, Kitty Sue Gibbs.
