Elizabeth Estes died November 23rd, 1890. Her maiden name was Harrison. She was born April the 8th, 1826, in Spencer county, Indiana. United with the Church of Christ at the age of 18 years; was baptised at the place of her birth by Eld. Jacob B. Shively. Was married to Richard C. Estes Jan. 22nd, 1848. Came to Mills county, Iowa, in 1852, where she has since resided 38 years. Her age at death was 64 years, 7 months and fifteen days. She survives her husband 3 years, 7 months and 4 days. Was the mother of twelve children. Three died in infancy.

She lived to see the other nine all grown and united with the Church of Christ - two sons and seven daughters - all married but one. Early in life she gave her heart to God and remained in His service until death. Possessed of a strong body, vigorous intellect, and having a true conception of women's mission, she entered actively upon the great work of life, first as a dutiful daughter, then as an affectionate wife, then as a devoted mother and withal a faithful earnest christian. Decisive in her convictions, amiable in her disposition, she commanded the confidence and respect of all who knew her.

What a noble life! She has bade adieu to earth, home, children and friends; her spirit borne by angels to the paradise of God, there to await the redemption of the body.

The funeral was conducted by the writer, and a great concourse of people were addressed from Romans 8:2, 'For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death'.
