Jerry was born October 3, 1931, to Richard McConnell Coody and Gladys "Mildred" (Burton) Coody in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He graduated from Baylor University where he played football from 1951 to 1954. Jerry became a high school teacher of History and English and retired from the Waco Independent School District in 1989. In 1985, he was inducted into the Baylor Football Hall of Fame. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Jane Boren; and his wife, Leta. He is survived by his brother, five children, eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Jerry was an active member of St. Vincent's Anglican Church in Bedford, Texas. Services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 9, at Christ Church Anglican Church, 1008 Jefferson Ave, Waco, Texas, followed by a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, 2124 S 5th St in Waco.
