Our Dad, Arthur Albert Axelson, of Chicago, IL., passed away peacefully on December 26, 2020 at 5:02 p.m.
He was a flight engineer on B25s and achieved the rank of Sergeant in WW2. He fought in the Philippines and New Guinea in the early 1940s. He returned to the US at the end of the war and married the love of his life, Shirley Mae Clegg, in which they had 6 children; Norman, Thomas, Robert, Barbara, Susan and Deborah.
His career included retiring from Illinois Central Railroad as an electrician, AMF of Olney, IL as a warehouse maintenance supervisor, then retired from Naval Air Rework Facility in Jacksonville as a supervisor in the electronic and instrument shop.
We were truly blessed to have been given such wonderful parents. Their kind spirit touched so many people in their lives. Art and Shirley are finally forever together again. Art will be laid to rest beside Shirley in the VA National Cemetery off Lem Turner on Jacksonville, Fl.
