Born May 1, 1890, to Otto and Thora Sonsthagen in Manitowoc, she was the youngest of seven daughters. She was married to John Harvey Sawtell May 30, 1914, and lived for a short time in Iowa and Illinois before settling in Oshkosh.
Inez was an active participant and supporter of the Republican Party and received a number of commendations for her work and efforts from several past United States presidents and presidential candidates.
She was involved in local charitable organizations and served on the board of directors of the E.B. Davis Home for Children for many years.
Preceding her in death were her husband, John, and a daughter, Nancy (Thomas) McGuire. Surviving members of her family are a daughter, May Abbott (Louis) Schriber, six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Inez was a devoted and profound friend to her household pets over the years, and a memorial in her name has been established with Friends of the Shelter Inc., Box 3374, Oshkosh 54903.
A private service for family members has been arranged..
