Mrs. Marjorie Pirtle Rowland, age 94 of Walling passed away at 5:55pm on Sunday, December 27, 2020 at St. Thomas Highlands Hospital.

Mrs. Rowland was born in the Peeled Chestnut Community of White County on September 15, 1926 to the late Shelah Davis Pirtle, Sr. and Lotta Suda “Sudie” Allison Pirtle.

She worked at Spartan Industries and Thomas Industries but the work she took most pride in was as a homemaker for her family. She had a joyous spirit and loved to sing, she was a member of the Spencer Seventh-day Adventist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband Horace Nixon Rowland; son Horace Nixon Rowland, Jr. and several brothers and sisters. Virgie Irene Pirtle, Herbert Reed Pirtle, Herman Clyde Pirtle, William Ernest Pirtle, and Shelah Davis Pirtle Jr.

Surviving family members include her son: Darryl (Martha) Rowland of Smithville

Daughter: Serita (Ken) Smith of Walling

Grandchildren: Sonya Dzyban of Nashville, Tonya Stewart of Nashville, Chad Rowland of Castalian Springs, Christie (Brian) Carter of Cookeville, Amy Leonard of Nashville, Sara Leonard (Ben) Brown of Franklin

Public graveside services will be conducted 1:00pm Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
