Hannah Goodwin was born near Greencastle,Putnam Co.,IN, August 27,1836 and died at her home near Bute,MO January 5, 1929,age 91 years,4 months and 8 days.At the age of 14 she was united in marriage to Emmanuel Carmack.In the year 1855 they moved to Sullivan Co. MO where they entered the homestead on which they lived until the time of their deaths,which of course, is a very unusual thing for a family to do.Mr. Carmack passed on to the other world seven years ago.To this union twelve children were born,seven of whom preceded her in death.Namely;Florence Coffman,Mary Fanning,Matilda Peavler,Eddie Carmack,Elsie Spray,Bertha Moore and Sylvester Carmack.The surviving children are; Alice Morris,John B. Carmack,Thomas Benton Carmack,John A Carmack,who live in the home community,and William Carmack of Naches,WA.Mr. and Mrs. Carmack were also blessed with forty two grandchildren and ninety seven great-grandchildren.Mother Carmack was an ardent believer in the Golden Rule,which she practiced very consistently until the time of her death.She was a good neighbor,a devoted wife,a patient loving mother.She will be greatly missed from the family circle,as well as the entire community in which she has a host of friends.Funeral services were held at the Baker Church and internment was in the Baker Cemetery.
