Samuel Kenneth “Bo” Lowry, Jr.
Samuel Kenneth “Bo” Lowry, Jr., of York, SC passed away December 24, 2020 in Rock Hill, SC. Mr. Lowry was born June 12, 1925 in York, SC. He was the son of the late Samuel Kenneth, Sr. and Mary Starr Lowry.
Bo attended York High School and Darlington Academy in Rome, GA. He served as a Pharmacist Mate in the Navy during WWII from 1943 to 1946. He then earned a pharmacy degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1950.
Bo is predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Mary Anne Robinson “Andy” Lowry. He is survived by his son, Stephen Ernest Lowry and wife, Fran, of York; son, Samuel Kenneth Lowry, III and wife, Ellen, of Charlotte; daughter, Susan Lowry Mason, of York; and daughter, Cecilia Lowry Stevenson and husband, Leslie, of Camden. Additionally, he is survived by six grandchildren: Clayton Mason and wife, Olga; Chase Mason and wife, Sarah; McClure Lowry and wife, Heather; Anne Lowry; Elise Lowry; Samuel “Bo” Lowry, IV; and six great-grandchildren: Ethan Mason; Ryan Mason; Evan Mason; Henry Mason; George Mason; and Haven Lowry.
Bo owned and operated the York Drug Store for 37 years; he was instrumental in developing Kennedy's Mixture with his father. Bo was a founding member of the York Jaycees. He served on the York District School Board and with P.A.T.H of York County. Bo was known for his gift of storytelling for all of his 95 years.
