Dorothy Vernel Adkisson was born December 28, 1930 to the union of the late Tommie and Earlene Jones Travis of McKenzie, TN. She worked at Brown Shoe Co. and was a cook for Magnolia Manor.
Dorothy accepted Christ at an early age and united with Johnson Temple CME Church in McKenzie. There she remained a faithful dedicated member until her death. Dorothy was a missionary of the church.
Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to the late John Samuel Adkisson in 1950.
Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: two loving sons, Ivory Adkisson and Victor (Anna) Adkisson, four grandchildren, Jason (Amber) Adkisson, Justin (Ashley) Adkisson, Jonathan Adkisson and Charisee Jones and eight great-grandchildren Julius Adkisson, Chloe Adkisson, Jeremiah Adkisson, Jordan Adkisson, Lily Adkisson, Avery Adkisson, Trey Smith, and Quinton Jones, a niece Frankie (Grady) Jones, a nephew Pastor Richard (Linda) Adkisson and cousins, family and friends.
