Janice Joy Cwach, age 67, of Yankton, South Dakota, went peacefully into the arms of her Lord, Tuesday, November 4, 2008, at Avera Sister James Care Center in Yankton after a lengthy illness with cancer and Alzheimer’s.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, November 8, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Yankton with Reverend Dean Trapp officiating.

Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Yankton.

Visitation is from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., on Friday, at the Wintz & Ray Funeral Home in Yankton with a prayer service and video tribute at 7:00 p.m.

Janice was born October 12, 1941, to Leonard and Florence (Spurrell) Sachse in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She grew up in De Smet and Hartford, South Dakota until her family moved to Yankton. She graduated from Yankton High School in 1959 and attended Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, South Dakota for two years. She moved to Sioux City, Iowa where she lived and worked until she married Larry Cwach May 1, 1965, in Yankton. They moved back to Yankton after their marriage where Janice raised their four children. Janice attended Mount Marty College in Yankton graduating with a BA in religious studies in 1989. She worked at Dale Electronics and the Yankton Area Adjustment Training Center in Yankton until retiring in 1995.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Yankton, volunteering whenever she was needed. She was very active in the United Methodist Women, bible study, and Sunday school at the church. She was a very dedicated and loving mother and grandmother. She lived her life for her church and her family.

She is survived by her four children, Shari (Dave) Kuehler of Yankton, Dr. Heather Cwach of Rapid City, South Dakota, Eric (Tonya) Cwach of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Jason (Stacy) Cwach of West Des Moines, Iowa; two grandchildren, Kayli and Jenna Cwach of Sioux Falls; two sisters, Rosalie Apps and Anita (Al) Fagerstrom both of Duluth, Minnesota; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and nephew, Stewart Apps.
