William Paul Wile, 92, of Telford, PA, passed away at home on Monday morning, December 21, 2020. He was the husband of Lois Keller (Nyce) Wile, who passed away December 17, 2019. They had been married for 69 years at the time of her passing.

Born July 11, 1928, on the family farm on Cathill Road in West Rockhill, PA, he was a son of the late William G. and Mabel (Crouthamel) Wile. He was a graduate of Sell-Perk High School. He and his wife owned the family farm for a few years, before moving to Hatfield, PA, where they lived for more than fifty years, raising their children and eventually caring for Lois’s parents. They lived for 15 years at the Lutheran Community at Telford, before moving to the home of daughter Sue in 2019.

Mr. Wile was a long-time member of Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek in Telford, where he served on the Consistory and was involved in the Men’s Fellowship, working on many projects, one being the building of the pavilion at the church picnic grove. Much of the family’s life was centered around worship and activities at the church. More recently, he was a member of Immanuel Leidy’s Church of Souderton, PA.

Providing for his family through various occupations over the years, Paul worked as a machinist at A.B. Ziegler and Nice Ball Bearing, a warehouseman at Estate of George Snyder and a quality control inspector at B&G Manufacturing. In his retirement years, he enjoyed the exercise and social aspect of being a parking lot attendant at Clemens Market in Hatfield, PA.

Hobbies included local fishing and numerous fishing trips to Canada. He was very involved in the Hatfield area Little League, coaching his son’s team and maintaining the fields, later coaching a grandson’s team for a season, as well. He and Lois enjoyed day trips to play many different miniature golf courses. In later years, he enjoyed golfing with friends from Christ Reformed Church. He enjoyed staying active, including riding his bicycle, after they moved to the Lutheran Community at Telford.

Known as Pop-Pop and Great Pop-Pop, Paul enjoyed time spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Intrigued by a grandson’s remote control car, he purchased his own car and turned part of his meticulously cared for lawn and garden into an elaborate two level racetrack. He also enjoyed sharing a large model railroad train display with his children and grandchildren.

After caring for Lois’s parents in their home for a number of years, they began to travel and enjoyed many bus tours across the United States and Canada.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Paul started out as a Yankees fan, because he was able to tune into their games via radio, high on the hill on the farm. Eventually, he became a Phillies fan as well. He had a knack for remembering player and team statistics of various sports, including baseball stats from decades ago, which would still be part of conversations as recent as a week before his passing.

His final year was marked by many, many visits from children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, many of which were outside and somewhat socially distanced, because of Covid concerns. He was able to be part of Cousins Day, sharing lunch and watching as great-grandchildren from 2-16 played in the yard and pool. More recently, four generation visits included campfires and roasting marshmallows.

Surviving are four children, Cynthia Rush of Hilltown, PA, Laurence Paul Wile and his wife, Rebecca, of Leola, PA, Susan Hatch and her husband, John, of Telford, PA, and Marcia Kirkpatrick and her husband, David, of Hatfield, PA. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Laurie Reinhart, Brian Rush and his wife Laura, Lisa Spengler and her husband Rob, Michelle Wile and her husband Daniel Orth, Kevin Wile and his wife Jackie, Bethany McCarty and her husband Thomas, Zachary Hatch and his wife Lauren, Jeffrey Kirkpatrick and his wife Mary, and Pamela Gordon and her husband Jerard; and 17 great grandchildren, Lydia Reinhart, Sara and Eva Rush, Sienna, Ethan and Emery Spengler, Elliot Orth, Hailey and Quinn Wile, Alex and Aiden McCarty (with a sister on the way), Sadie and Kayla Hatch, and Stephen, CJ and Isaac Kirkpatrick.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Glenn Rush; and two siblings, Floyd Wile and Naomi Shelly.

Due to restrictions on gatherings, the viewing and funeral will be private for the family, with private burial following at Christ Reformed Church at Indian Creek Cemetery.
