Kathryn Weist Atherton, 83, of West Chester, formerly of Scranton and Baylor's Lake, Fleetville, died April 4 in West Chester. She was the widow of Thomas Sayre Atherton who died in 1961.

Born in Cleveland, she was a 1931 graduate of Scranton Central High School and a 1935 graduate of Oberlin College. She was an English teacher at North Scranton Junior High School until retiring in 1978. She was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania State Education Association and the Century Club and was active in brigade groups throughout the area.

Surviving are a sister, Marion Weist Wilkinson, Bradenton, Fla.; a daughter, Kathryn Millhouse Murphy, Villanova, a son, John Millhouse, Presque Isle, Maine; and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held April 27 at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church Chapel.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Arthritis Foundation, 71 N. Franklin St., Wilkes-Barre, 18701.
