Jerry Alton Ammons was born to Lissie Lee Blackwell and Harold H. Ammons on May 5, 1949.
He married Delores Garmon on May 24, 1968. They had two children, a daughter, Lori and a
son, Chuck.
Jerry worked for 50 years in the trucking industry, driving an 18-wheeler for several
companies and making many, many friends. Delores says “If you were a friend of Jerry’s, then
you had a friend for life.” Jerry belonged to Leland Masonic Lodge in Mableton. Jerry loved
hunting, fishing and vacationing with his family. He was proceeded in death by his parents, his
son “Chuck”, and his parents-in-law, Gene and Joyce Garmon. Jerry left behind his wife,
Delores; his daughter and son-in-law, Lori & Scott Kelley; his grandsons, Taylor Ammons and
Joshua Kelley; and granddaughter, Gracie Kelley; his sister, Jean Thompson; and brother Ronnie
Ammons; and brother & sister-in-law Bill and Annette Ammons; many nephews and nieces and
many, many friends.
Jerry will be dearly missed by his family and all his friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made in Jerry’s name to either of the
following charities:
