Oren Stanton Noyes was the son of Gershom Noyes and Electa Matilda Gleason Noyes. He was born in New York, and when his mother died in about 1824, his father took the children and removed to Michigan. Oren married Rachel Mallory, daughter of Benjamin Mallory and Mindwell Strong Mallory in 1850. AFter his death, Rachel married Robert Johnson Nichols.

Oren and Rachel were the parents of Samuel, Flora, Sarah and Oren Eugene (who was known as Eugene).
