She was born on May 20, 1926 in Wickham, WV to the late Rutherford Hayes Bragg (1883-1953) and Rosa Belle Clay-Bragg (1886-1955). In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Perry “Otis” Tilley (1914-1986) of Pilot Mountain, NC whom she married in Bowling Green, OH; and 10 siblings. She was the youngest and the only remaining child of 11.
Those left to cherish her memory include her two sons, Perry Joe Tilley & wife Rose Tilley of Myrtle Beach, SC and Jeffrey Alan Tilley & wife Jean Tilley of Youngsville, NC; four granddaughters, Mary Tilley and Sarah Tilley of Raleigh, NC, Kacey Tilley of Springfield, MO and Jordan Tilley of Charlotte, NC.
Due to the current COVID-19 situation private services to celebrate the life of Betty Jo Tilley will be held Tuesday, December 22, 2020. Following the services, Betty will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband, Otis at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Beckley. For those attending the services, facial coverings and practicing social distancing must be followed as ordered by the Governor of WV.
