LAVERNE COX McCLURE OBITUARY:

Wyvetta Laverne Cox McClure, 85, formerly of 311 E. Maple St., died at 6:30 a.m. Sunday at Memorial Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Born in Big Muddy, Ill., on June 27, 1918, she was the daughter of John Thomas and Dessie May (Smith) Hayden.

She married Clifford Wayne Cox on Oct. 7, 1936, and he died on June 23, 1987. She married Sherrod Leroy McClure on June 29, 1991, and he died on June 21, 2003.

She was employed at RCA in Bloomington for 13 years and was a member of Women of the Moose.

She is survived by daughters Peggy Jean Smith, Fairview Heights, Ill., Rita May Methany, Shiloh, Ill., and Phyllis Darlene Bectel, Kokomo; sons Vearle Allen "Butch" Cox, Petersburg, Ronald Lee Cox Sr. , Kokomo, Roger Cox Sr., Washington; brother Robert E. Rumble, Kokomo; step-children Shirley Gillenwater, Springfield, Ill., Wanda Marble, Coschocton, Ohio, Vivian Brewer, Washington and Marvin McClure, El Paso, Texas; brothers-in-law, Carl James Cox and George Lee Cox, Washington; 25 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded by daughter Waynetta Mae Cox; son Frankie Wayne Cox; sisters Elsie Loveless, Marie Miley and Dessie Walters; brothers Elvies Eugene Hayden and Walter Ralph Fowler; step-sisters Beulah Sterling, Freda Edmondson and Bessie Thompson; and step-brother Carl Rumble.

The funeral will take place at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gill Chapel with David Methany officiating.

Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Throughout her life she never knew that her Birth Certificate Father was not in fact her Father and that her real Father was Walter "Red" Williams. Also when you see the comparison of Walter's Sister Mary Ethel Williams and my Mother there is little doubt as she looked almost exactly like Ethel.
