Belia V. Dickerson, age 80, passed away the morning of Saturday, December 20th at her residence after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.

Born and raised in Mission, TX, she lived in the small town eventually moving to Houston in 1975.

She is preceded in death by husband George R. Dickerson, son Martin Rios, grandson Martin Angel Gonzales, and former husband Luis Rios.

Belia was wonderfully devoted to her family.

Through the years, Belia was always busy, raising children and grandchildren and working. She spent almost 20 years with the City of Houston at the Airport in Building Services, finishing her career at Terminal C, where she was well known and admired.

In her retirement, she was active with Humble Area Assistance Ministries (H.A.A.M), and enjoyed helping translate for people in the community.

She enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening, watching her novelas and spending time with her family and loved ones. She was a devoted Catholic, who was always willing to pray for her friends and family.

Belia led by example. She exemplified what a mother should be. Always kind and nurturing, there to lift you up if you should need. She was a strong, determined and fiercely independent woman. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for her loved ones. Above all she was passionate about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

This gentle, loving, caring and wonderful woman has left a permanent mark etched on our hearts and will be supremely missed. She will be forever remembered for her beautiful smile, gentle eyes, caring heart, loving embrace and unconditional love. Although our hearts are heavy, we will celebrate her life and find comfort that she is in heaven watching over us.
