Mr. Abbott died Oct. 3, 2007, at a Tyler hospice.
He was born May 27, 1926, in LaRue. He served in the Marine Corps during World War II, was a truck driver and a member of Assembly of God. He was preceded in death by brothers, Racy, Doc and J.T. Abbott, and sisters, Bessie Webb and Rena Fields.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Melba L. Abbott, Chandler; daughter, Joy G. Abbott, Houston; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
