Wes was born to Robert and Floretta Gadway on May 20, 1931, in Wellfleet. He attended Somerset and Belle Prairie Grade Schools then graduated from Curtis Agricultural School in 1946. Wes worked on the family farm for several years.
In May of 1951 Wes married Mary Lovell of Potter. He was inducted into the U.S. Army January 1952 and served his country two years. After his discharge, Wes and Mary settled in Potter where they started farming and had two sons, Kevin and Kelly. Their two grandchildren, Tiffany and Kristopher, came later.
The Gadways moved to Hershey in 1980 when Mary became postmaster. Wes went to work for Rick Bodenhamer and worked as a farmhand for nearly 20 years. Mary passed away in 1985.
In 1996 Wes met Cecelia R. Powell, who became his life companion.
Survivors include his son, Kelly, of Gothenburg; granddaughter, Tiffany, and great-granddaughter, Kaylynn; grandson, Kristopher (Marisa), and his children Kurtis, Michael, Noah, and Mary; brothers, Gordon (Flo), Stan (Marilyn) and Maynard Gadway; sister-in-law, Linda Gadway; life companion, Cecilia R. Powell; and other family.
Along with his wife, Mary, Wes was preceded in death by his parents; son Kevin; and brother, Robert 'Bob' Gadway.
A family services will be held at a later date. Odean Colonial Chapel at C & Sycamore is in charge of arrangements.
