OCTOBER 3, 1930 – NOVEMBER 12, 2020

Born October 3, 1930 in Brooklyn New York, he was the son of the late Louis Walker and Sophia Julian Gompers-Walker. Barrett graduated from Brooklyn Technical High School and then served as an active duty basic airman in the Air Force during the Korean War. After returning from Korea, he attended Adelphi College and there met his future wife June Rose Wittenberg. Barrett went on to receive a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering at New York University. Barrett and June were married in 1956 and lived in Queens New York until Barrett went to work for Picatinny Arsenal in Rockaway, NJ in 1967.

Barrett is survived by his son David Walker of Rockaway, NJ, his daughter Julie Richman (Todd) also of Rockaway, NJ, his 6 grandchildren Rebecca Lory (Ross), Stacey Richman, Lauren Walker, Benjamin Fish, Jonathan Richman, and Kimberly Richman and his two great-grandchildren Jonah and Adina Lory. He also leaves behind his extended family, sister in law, Linda Thailer, nieces and nephews, Marcy Thailer (Chuck Miller), Daniel Thailer (Trudy), Jay Thailer (Ilene), and Sam Walker (Amiee), as well as grand nieces and nephews, Alexa, Ian, Dillon, Sophie, Melanie, Jordan, Evan, Rachel, Skylor and Sophia.

He was preceded in death by his wife June, his daughter Ellen Walker, his brother Calvin Walker, and his brother in law Michael Thailer, all of whom he loved dearly.

Graveside services will be held at Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge, NJ at 11:00 am on Monday November 16.
