David was a lifelong resident of Albuquerque, and a 1984 graduate of Rio Grande High school.
After graduation David enlisted in The United States Army where he served proudly during the Golf war and served a year in Korea. After six years David left the Army as a Sargent.
David was a employee of PNM and then retired in 2016 from New Mexico Gas company.
He loved the Packers, collecting watches, building model cars and fishing. He adored and loved his daughter, Kayla, who has followed in her father's footsteps, proudly serving her country in the military.
David was preceded in death by his father, Fred Montez; grandparents, Alcario and Viviana Jaramillo, and Merced and Lucarita Montez.
David is survived by his daughter, Kayla Montez; mother, Lia Montez; sister, Carmela; brother, Fredrick and wife Yvonne; and brother, James Montez; all his aunts ,uncles cousins and friends.
