Willard is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Betty; his children, Tammy Stough (Mark) of Richmond, VA, and Deanna Huhak of Newport News, VA; and grandchildren, Matthew Stough, and Hayley Dolan (Kyle) of Richmond, VA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Hazen and Inez Adams.
As a young man, Willard was employed at the shipyard and obtained his associate's degree, leading to a 28-year career at Auto Body Shop at New Horizons Technical School as a vocational instructor. He was a mentor for future auto body shop owners throughout the Peninsula area.
Willard was a man of many talents and enjoyed an active life. In his younger years he was a stock car drag racer and later became an avid NASCAR fan. He was a lifelong fisherman, winning many citations over his years and was happy to have shared those experiences with his grandchildren. Being a jack-of-all trades and a self-taught man, he was proud to share his many accomplishments with his family.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 18, 2020 at Peninsula Funeral Home, 11144 Warwick Blvd., in Newport News. Interment will follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
