Richard Walter Krenz

Two Rivers - Richard W. Krenz, age 76 of Two Rivers, died unexpectedly on Wednesday evening, December 9th, 2020 of natural causes.

Richard Walter Krenz was born in Chicago, IL on March 15, 1944 to Walter Gustav Krenz from Hanover, Germany and Helen Elisabeth (Rentz) Krenz from Oshkosh, WI. The family moved to Whitewater, WI in 1949 where Richard attended Whitewater College Elementary School. He graduated from Whitewater High School in 1962. He played basketball and football and received a few trophies for his accomplishments. After high school, he and two friends started a trio, calling themselves "The King's Men" and made one record. He attended a trade school for Commercial Art for three years, and in 1965, joined the United States Marines. He completed basic training in California, and was then later sent to Vietnam to serve. He was wounded in military action and has received three Purple Hearts, along with numerous other medals. He suffered from PTSD and Agent Orange. After his service in Vietnam, he was married for several years and then divorced. He has a step-daughter, Joanna Smith of Pollack Lake, CA.

In 1973 his mother died. His father remarried in 1977 to Loretta Jost of Kiel, WI. Richard moved to Arizona after his divorce, where his friend lived. He worked for a Commercial Art firm in Arizona and his last job was in maintenance at a local college. He was a 1st class pool player, and has a few trophies for pool. He also competed in Las Vegas several times. Richard played with several bands. He played guitar, banjo, mandolin, and bass. He was very talented. He had a huge collection of DVD's, which he really enjoyed collecting. He loved all animals, especially horses and dogs. While in Arizona, he had several horses and dogs. Richard moved back to Wisconsin in 2016 to be near his sister, Lorna. His dog, Roxy, was his constant companion and she has been adopted by his sister, Lorna Freitag-Bussie and brother-in-law, Norris Bussie of Two Rivers.

Survivors include his sister & brother-in-law, Lorna and Norris Bussie of Two Rivers; niece, Cathy Alt and husband Michael Alt of Two Rivers; nephew, Karl Freitag and wife Jackie of Elkhart Lake, WI; stepsister, Shirley Keuler and husband Roland Keuler of Glendale, WI; stepdaughter, Joanna Smith of Pollack Lake, CA; and his special companion: Roxy; numerous grand-nieces, grand-nephews and cousins also survive.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen; father, Walter; two sisters: Luella and Mary; stepmother, Loretta; and brother-in-law, Ludwig Freitag.

Richard has been cremated and will be interred with full Military Honors due to him at Central Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Park in King, WI, on Thursday, December 17th, 2020 at 11:00 A.M.
