Annie Lee Watkins, 82, of South Haven, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo. She was born February 2, 1938 to Fred Young and Melissa (Powell) Tyler in Clarksdale, Mississippi. Annie married John Watkins, Sr. in 1959. They shared 52 years in marriage before his passing in 2011. Annie worked housekeeping at the South Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Community for 30 years before her retirement in 2003. She loved to watch TV and complete crossword puzzles. Her favorite movie was “Imitation of Life”.

She is preceded in death along with her parents by her husband – John Watkins, Sr.; a son – John Watkins, Jr.; grandchildren – Juwann Young and John Watkins, III; great-great granddaughter – J’onna Rose Watkins; siblings – Willia Mae Jordan, Leona Young, Robert Young, and Jimmy Young.

Annie is survived by her children – Melvin Young of Atlanta, Georgia, Derick Watkins of Muskegon, and Micheal (Felishia) Watkins of Grand Rapids, siblings – Georgia Young of South Haven, Juanita Young of St. Joseph, Michigan, and Freddie Williams of Chicago. 17 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren also survive.

Wake will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Funeral services will follow the wake at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Annie will be laid to rest at Covert Cemetery.
