Oberlin- Donald Ray Taylor, 73, passed away peacefully at Rapides Regional Hospital in Alexandria. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2020 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. George Jerish will officiate. Burial will follow at Oberlin Cemetery under the direction of Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Homes.

The family will receive visitors at Ardoin/Allen Parish Funeral Home on Wednesday, December 16, 2020 from 3 p.m. until time of service on Thursday. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m.

Donald was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother. He was a devoted husband to his wife, Patricia, for fifty years. Donald grew up in Port Arthur, TX and attended Thomas Jefferson High School. After graduating, he attended college at Lamar University in Beaumont and later graduated from the police academy in Lake Charles. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, BBQing, being outdoors, fast cars, and motorcycles. Last but not least, Donald enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Donald served our country in Vietnam for three years in the United States Air Force and an additional thirty-eight years in the United States Army as a 1SG. He was a man of strong faith. Donald was a faithful council member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, a lifetime member of The American Legion, a member of The Vietnam Veterans of America in Kinder and also a city councilman for Oberlin. He was a very social person who never met a stranger. Donald will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish Donald’s memory include his wife, Patricia Taylor of Oberlin; one son, Rodney Ray Taylor and wife, Denise, of Bossier City; two daughters, Amanda Kay Chapman and husband, Kevin, of Lake Charles and Tiffany Nicole Taylor and husband, Jon Olsen, of Edmond, OK; one sister Darleen Vidrine of Eunice; eight grandchildren, Jared Chapman, Alexandra Ardoin, Victoria Chapman, Kaitlin Wilkerson, Trevor Olsen, Jackson Ray Taylor, Lauren Elizabeth Taylor and Allison Claire Taylor; and three great grandchildren, Hunter Olsen, Ainsley Imler and Rory James Sommer.

Donald is preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Elizabeth Taylor; and one sister, Vera Mae Spears.

Pallbearers honored to serve are-Rodney Ray Taylor, Jackson Ray Taylor, Jon Olsen, Kevin Chapman, Jared Chapman and Darrell Duplechain.
