He was born with a veil over his face. He was a Pinkerton Detective and a night watchman at the cotton mill. He met his wife, Anna, in the spinning room of the mill he worked in. He also had the first Ideal Bread Bakery in Huntsville. On July 7, 1932 he was awarded " Notary Public and ex-Offiria Justice of the Peace " by Governor Benjamin Meek Miller, and Secretary of State, Peterson " Pete " B. Jarman, by the State of Alabama, for which he received a signed document from the Governor and Secretary of State, themselves. On February 8, 1943 he was awarded " Notary Public and ex-Offiria Justice of the Peace" by the State of Alabama to which he again received from the State of Alabama, a signed document by the Governor, George Chauncey Sparks, and the Secretary of State, themselves. He was appointed Justice of the Peace of West Huntsville in 1943. He died of a stroke, an honorable and respected man. He was one of 5 children born to James Henry Preston Buckner and Emma Bernice Ingram. He was known as " Big Paw " to many.
