Harold Junior Moody , 79, of Oaktown, passed away Thursday, December 10 at Oak Village Nursing Home.
Born February 19, 1941, he was the son of Harold and Edith Alsman Moody. He married Elizabeth "Tib" Meeks Moody on November 21,1964 at the Oaktown Christian Church. He is survived by three sons, Reg Lynn (Mia) Moody, Rhett Alan (Holly) Moody and Russ Daniel (Candy) Moody. They have one granddaughter, Shelby Lyn Moody and eight grandsons, Garrett (Sarah) Moody, Jace Alan Moody, Casey (Abby) Moody, Cole Ryan Moody, Lex Steven Moody, Dane Harold Moody and Adam (Ally) Moon. Great grandchildren are MaKenna, Levi, and Callum Moody and Adrian, Alexa and Anson Moon. A grandson, Austin Lynn Moody is deceased.
Harold graduated from Freelandville High School in 1959. He earned his BA from Oakland City College and his MS from Indiana University. Harold taught at Monroe City for four years before consolidation and later at South Knox High School for 36 years. He was a member of Oaktown Church of Christ, Oaktown Masonic Lodge #474 and served on many advisory boards in Oaktown.
Harold loved his family and enjoyed spending time with all of them whether it was playing cards, fishing, mushroom hunting, jeep riding or watching his grandkids sports activities. He and Tib traveled a lot of places with friends. He was a kind man with a compassionate heart who loved helping people especially his students at SKHS.
There will be a private graveside service at 11 am Monday for immediate family only. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
