PLYMOUTH - Alan W. Roberts, 62, of Terryville, husband of Barbara (Fox) Roberts, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2007, at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center, Hartford. Al was born April 15, 1945, in Bristol. He was the son of the late Elmer and Irene (Cummingham) Roberts and was a lifelong resident of Terryville. He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam War. He was currently employed as a bus monitor for the Plymouth Board of Education and was also retired from the former New Departure-Hyatt Division of Bristol. He was a member of American Legion Plymouth Post No. 20 and a retired member of the Terryville Fire Department. Besides his wife, he leaves three sons, Alan W. Roberts Jr. of Windsor Locks, Jason M. Roberts of Terryville and Cpl. Kevin Roberts, stationed with the U.S. Marines; a sister, Jean Emmons of Bristol; his grandson, Kyle Roberts; several nieces and nephews; and cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2007, 11 a.m., at Terryville Congregational Church. Burial with military honors will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Bristol. Friends may call at Scott Funeral Home, 169 Main St., Terryville, Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Oncology Department of St. Francis Hospital, 94 Woodland St., Hartford, CT 06105.
